mugs-be-mine

I’m thrilled to share my latest artist collaboration with Kam Wenzloff! Many of you may remember our first team-up back in 2020 with the What A Hoot series, which proved very popular.  Since then, Kam has created several beautiful published projects featuring my threads, including the ever-popular Courtly Checks and the elegant Layers of Leaves, both of which appeared in Needlepoint Now.

For the past few years, Kam and I have been brainstorming ideas for a new series, but nothing quite clicked—then last year, inspiration struck; when one of my Canadian customers, Simone, sent me a photo of an original design she had created: a small canvas of a coffee mug. She indicated she planned to do one mug/canvas for each of the four seasons which she has since completed. When I saw her work, I was immediately inspired and asked if she’d allow us to use her concept as a springboard for a new series. Simone graciously agreed and gave us permission and that’s how MUGGS was born!

MUGS and our artist collaboration

Mugs is a series of four holiday themed designs featuring what else MUGS!  We will be introducing one design/kit each month for the next four months.  Today we’d like to introduce, Be Mine celebrating Valentine’s!

Be Mine boasts a palette of pinks, cherry red and red violet!  The design incorporates a variety of stitches and measures 5×5 on 18 count canvas, offering needleworkers a mix of textures, stitches and colors.

The Kit Includes

With this series, I am including canvas which I have not done previously.  You will have everything required to start the project with the exception of white perle cotton, needles and your frame.

  • Custom dyed threads to complete the design
  • 18 count white mono canvas cut 8×8
  • PDF pattern emailed once payment has been processed

There are sufficient threads included in the kit to likely start a second design.  You might like to switch around the colours.

Finishing Your Canvas

Each of the designs could be finished by framing the set of four as a wall hanging.  What about acrylic tray inserts – you can change canvases to celebrate each of the holidays.  How about door hangers.  There are a variety of possibilities.  You may like to stitch all four designs or perhaps only one or two.

I can’t wait for you to start stitching Be Mine, the first of our MUGS series. A big thank you to Simone for inspiring this idea and to Kam Wenzloff for her stunning designs.  Artist collaborations are such a joy, and I’m very grateful to both Simone and Kam.

Make sure you stay tuned for Easter, Halloween and Christmas!

If you prefer to stitch the design with alternate colours, let me know and I’ll create a custom palette!
