Today’s stitch sample video showcases Colour #33, which is a blue colour palette that includes a blend of blues and turquoise blues. I introduced this colour many years ago, and it remains just as popular now.

I frequently like to combine this when stitching with Colour #32 as it draws on the same turquoise/blues, but you could easily experiment with various colours. This is a great colour you can use all year round for any project! I love using it for Spring, Summer and Winter themed projects.

Today’s video highlights our feature colour for April, a fun, bright spring colour combination.  Colour 23 is a beautiful easter themed blend of blue, coral pink and yellow with hints of green.

Today’s video features a beautiful fuchsia and yellow colour combination. It also turns out to be one of three colours in our new fall collection, Colour #84. I may have mentioned this before, but Colour #84 is a colour different from your traditional fall colours. Rather than the deep reds and browns that echo the turning of leaves, this colour is inspired by the gorgeous, fall sunsets that you see on a crisp and cool day. 

Colour #84 is a blend of golden yellow, berry red and fuchsia. It works beautifully with Colour #83 (also part of our fall collection), combining blue, fuchsia and berry red. I have some samples coming up this month on the blog showcasing these colours, so check back!

In terms of other colour combinations, Colour #84 would work well with various pinks or perhaps some muted reds and various yellows. Don’t forget to check your stash; I’m sure you will find some colours that work well to create a palette.

Our video today highlights one of the colours from our fall 2022 collection – Colour #165. Bold, dark and vibrant are just some of the words I would use to describe it!

I originally introduced this colour combination many years ago and despite discontinuing it at that time, I’ decided to re-introduce it last year.

It is a gorgeous blend of dark blue, red, yellow and rust. There are hints of green where the yellow and blue blend if you look closely!  I personally love how vibrant these colours appear. Colour #165 from our Fall Collection has all of the ideal colour combinations to celebrate the fall season. Reminds me of the colours seen in falling maple leaves.

This is a great combination of colours to create a wide variety of palettes. You may choose to add yellows or golden yellows such as Colour #37 or perhaps #77. Or you might like to choose various values of reds. Colour #187 is a great start. Or perhaps more blues such as Colour #28. Your options are endless and I have no doubt will look beautiful no matter which colours you choose.

Today’s video highlights a cherry red embroidery stitch. Since we are featuring coral/pinks this month, I felt this would be a good choice to create a bold palette when combined with Colour #134 from my collection.

While this colour combination would work well for Valentine’s, it also could work equally well in Christmas-themed projects or summer themed canvases. The red is more of a pink/red (hence why the cherry red name) than a true red which makes it ideal to combine with coral and coral pinks, Colour 72.

What does this cherry red embroidery floss look like when stitched?

This month we are featuring a RED stitch sample video. Colour #187 is a beautiful blend of reds and orange/reds, ideal for your seasonal stitching.

Throughout this month, we have been focusing on red and green in celebration of the holiday season. I dyed Colour #187 many years ago, and it has been popular ever since, especially for holiday stitching! For a traditional seasonal palette, try adding Colour #184 or Colour #18. You can even blend both colours to give your pattern more depth!

Add some texture and don’t forget your metallics, and you should manage a beautiful Christmas palette.

I started using size 5 Perle cotton but I found since this is an eye style stitch, it was my view that this looked better using a small size 8 Perle. You can see the comparison and choose what you prefer for your own stitching.

Today’s stitch sample video highlights a golden brown colour sample – Colour #29. It is a monochromatic blend of various brown and tan shades.

This colour is particularly unique. Depending on who you ask, some folks may pass this colour off as a warm, peachy tone. On the other hand, the dark shades that you see in this video add more definition to the colour, creating a honey, golden brown tone.

Colour #29 (or shades like it!) are such versatile colours to have in your stash. Because of how multi-dimensional the colours can be, it serves as a great option to use for virtually any project and can be combined with a variety of different colours.

I personally envision pairing this colour with a beautiful light blue to create a perfect contrast between cool and warm shades.

Today, my stitch sample video showcases a teal blue colour feature. We are using Colour #28 which is a beautiful blend of medium to darker teal blue.

If you’ve purchased Colour #28 in the past, I have recently adjusted the formula for this new dye lot. I did this as I have a second blue, Colour #175 which is a blend of lighter variations of blue shades. I wanted to ensure I had variety in my colour combinations.

Last year I featured Colour #28 in my version of Plum Sparkle, one of three designs called Courtly Checks. You will find the pattern in the July/August issue of Needlepoint Now. Don’t forget that if you enter #175 in the search bar on my website (very top right side) a list of the product along with various samples will pop up.

You could easily combine both blues in a project but there are lots of other opportunities to create a palette. What about a really bold blend by adding Colour #53 OR perhaps a spring blend with Colour #23. I find blue very versatile so experiment.
