WHITEWORK, hand dyed embroidery threads A lovely example of WHITEWORK today stitched by Linda!  I am delighted to share this as I do not often receive samples of Whitework using my threads.

The “Nine Patch Tray” pattern is designed by Terri Bay and stitched on 28 count linen.  The pattern was inspired by a nine patch quilt block.  It is worked in whitework and blackwork along with ladder hemstitch dividing bands and measures about 6” finished.  You will note a variety of pulled thread stitches with lots of eyelets.

Linda took this in a class and has used a blush linen for her background.  She used both size 8 and size 12 perle cotton, colour #2.  Colour #2 is a very soft blend of blues and lavenders.  She accented with dark purple blackwork in back stitching and double running stitch.  It is a work in progress as she is currently working on hemstitching between and around the patches as shown in the photo.  She will follow this by stitching the borders.

Thank you so very much for sharing this Linda!
