HARDANGER, hand dyed embroidery threadsA truly gorgeous example of HARDANGER today.  LuAnn sent me this recently.  She had corresponded a few times telling me about this project she was working on for her son and what a beauty it is – don’t you agree?

LuAnn stitched this project for her son.  He chose colour #137 because of the similarities to the colours he saw while travelling in Peru.  It will be framed as a wall hanging for his home.

The fabric is 22 count cotton hardanger fabric.  She used both size 5 and size 8 perle cotton, colour #137.  The size 8 is used for all the thread wrapping.  The design is a pattern by Lillill Thuve taken from a Swedish hardanger book.  It is not in English so she managed to following the diagrams to complete it – well done LuAnn!!!  She tells me she started the same pattern in the early 80’s which remains as a UFO.  Well, I’m certainly delighted to see this one finished 🙂

Hope all of you enjoy seeing this as much as I do.  Thanks so much LuAnn for sharing this lovely project.
