needlepoint, embroidery thread, hand dyedThought I would finish off this week with a bit of colour!  This is the second square in my Rainforest Crunch project – only 34 more to go!  If you missed the first post you can read about it here and here.  When I started my squares I dyed my palette with “autumn” in mind although I must admit I get a bit carried away when I dye and end up adding all kinds of colours with the results not always what I might have intended.  I’ve been experimenting with reds for some time trying to achieve the “perfect” tomato red.  Well, this one is close.  It is a combination of tomato red and burgundy.  The green is a gorgeous combination of different values of olive green and a brighter green.  I did end up dyeing this in both a #5 perle and a #8 perle although the sample above is stitched with a #5 perle.   Both these threads are available in the shop.
