Block #2 complete in my new CRAZY QUILTING project called Black Butterflies.
I have mentioned previously that I generally work on one medium size crazy quilt project annually. This year I chose a completely different colour combination from last year in a bold primary colour palette. You can find all the other posts pertaining to this project under “Black Butterflies” in the right sidebar under Categories.
What do you think of the final results? If you remember my focus fabric for this project is the black butterfly multi-coloured fabric in the middle. I have a minimum of one piece of this fabric in each block and frequently add a second piece, both clearly seen above. As this is a busy fabric, I tend to keep some of it showing without embellishing. On this occasion, I opted to display almost the entire butterfly when I sewed this block.
Finally I had the opportunity to use that green braid. I picked this up in Paris in a beautiful trim shop in Montmarte. Love the paisley in the lower right and the lace/braid seam treatment. The block measures 8”.
And, for some close-ups… Onto Block #3 now. Remember, you can find all sorts of threads in the shop that would work well in your Crazy Quilting. Have a great weekend.
