Bloomin Beauties Block #14! I have mentioned previously that this is Kathleen’s wool applique version of Bloomin Beauties pattern by Kim Schaefer. You can find this in Kim’s Flower Festival book. She has used a heavy black flannel for her background. Kathleen has used Colour Complements threads.
Kathleen likes to experiment with different shapes in her wool applique which you will see in her leaves. She does a lot of her base stitching at home then embellishes when she is with the group. I never quite know what is going to show up at stitch day. She opted to border the leaves with a wool fiber couched in place. The swirl veins are bordered with backstitch.
The flower is bordered with stem stitch in perle cotton and the center is sparkle chainette French knots. You could easily substitute Kreinik braid for the chainette. Once again if you have been following me for some time you will recognize the sparkle chainette I used to carry in the shop. On this occasion, Kathleen has opted to add no border to the center.
When I attended the woollies group, I must admit it was fun to watch the progression of these blocks. Thanks for sharing Kathleen.
