A small section of Block #2 in my new CRAZY QUILTING project – Black Butterflies. I have mentioned previously that I generally work on one medium size crazy quilt project annually. This year I chose a completely different colour combination from last year in a bold primary colour palette. You can find all the other posts pertaining to this project under “Black Butterflies” in the right sidebar under Categories.
I like to add at least one lace motif to each of my blocks and must admit, I am very fond of butterflies. I chose a lace butterfly on this occasion which I had hand dyed some time ago. I kept it simple and opted to embellish it with only a few beads. I could also see a lace fan or small flower in this area but sadly I did not have one.
Once again I used Sharon Boggon’s crazy quilt templates to trace the scalloped pattern onto the fabric. This was stitched using chain stitch in a blue perle cotton which I then laced with a solid green perle cotton. The top and bottom are accented with Kreinik size 8 braid in a grouping of three straight stitches. I will be sharing more on the other seam treatments in the next post.
AND, don’t forget to sign up for a chance to win some of my Colour Complements threads on Mary Corbet’s Needle n Thread site HERE.
That’s it for this week. More coming on this project. Have a great weekend.
