BLOOMIN BEAUTIES Block #11! I have mentioned previously that this is Kathleen’s wool applique version of Bloomin Beauties pattern by Kim Schaefer. You can find this in Kim’s Flower Festival book. She has used a heavy black flannel and all the wool is hand dyed available through Wool Penny Rugs. Kathleen has used Colour Complements threads.
Kathleen has really outdone herself on this block! FANTASTIC!!
She has used a solid dyed wool for the leaves and bordered it in a fly stitch with an elongated tail. The leaves are layered with a dark green leaf shape versus veins and bordered with stem stitch.
The flower is bordered with heavy chain (gorgeous) and the center is bordered with pistil stitches. This is further embellished with a pompom or turkey work would also work. So fun…..
My hope in sharing this project is to give you lots of ideas for your own version of Bloomin Beauties. OR, perhaps you could use the stitches, threads, ideas in another project of your choice.
As I said – FANTASTIC! Thanks so much Kathleen. You can find a selection of perle cottons in my SHOP.
