My new CRAZY QUILTING project, “Black Butterflies”. I introduced this project several weeks ago and this is another section of Block #1. You will find all the posts pertaining to this project under Categories – Crazy Quilting – Black Butterflies.
If you remember, I selected the black butterfly multi-coloured fabric as my “focus” fabric and all the remaining fabrics were chosen to coordinate with this.
I had the motif in the upper right corner in my stash for some time. This was part of an embroidered tablecloth I picked up years ago at the thrift shop. I like to cut up the bits I may use for future project so there are always some in my linen drawer. I added some detached chain in silk perle and further accents with Kreinik Size 8 Braid.
The seam treatment just below this is a base of feather stitch with French knots, all stitched using size 8 perle cotton.
The ribbon treatment started with a base of Kreinik ribbon straight stitches staggered. I laced this base with some purchased rayon ribbon. I further embellished with various sizes of French knots using both silk ribbon and Kreinik braid. I rather like the results. What do you think?
