WOOL APPLIQUE today. Bloomin Beauties Block #10! I have mentioned previously that this is Kathleen’s wool applique version of Bloomin Beauties pattern by Kim Schaefer. You can find this in Kim’s Flower Festival book. She has used a heavy black flannel for her background and all the wool is hand dyed available through Wool Penny Rugs. Kathleen has used Colour Complements threads. You can find all of Kathleen’s blocks to date in the right sidebar in categories under “wool applique”.
A lovely summer theme block today. Kathleen has opted for a very muted tan/green wool for her leaves in this block. She has added velvet ric rac to the center to create her vein and embellished this with French knots. The leaves are bordered with rayon cord couched in place with perle cotton. I could see any thicker thread or yarn as a substitute for the rayon cord.
She has used a lovely blend of layers for the flower. The outer yellow layer is bordered in stem stitch. The inner blue layer is bordered with buttonhole and the center slightly darker blue is bordered with stem stitch and a “clump” of French knots.
As always, I think it looks fantastic. Thanks so much Kathleen. Have a great weekend.
