Bloomin Beauties Block #9! I have mentioned previously that this is Kathleen’s wool applique version of Bloomin Beauties pattern by Kim Schaefer. You can find this in Kim’s Flower Festival book. She has used a heavy black flannel and all the wool is hand dyed available through Wool Penny Rugs. Kathleen has used Colour Complements threads.
Kathleen has opted for a colour other than green for her leaves in this block. She has used a solid perle cotton to border them with a stem stitch. The veins are a different shape and once again she has repeated the stem stitch but this time in a variegated perle cotton.
The flower is bordered with fly stitches. The center is a lighter colour providing good contrast and is bordered with gathered viscose ribbon. Those of you who have followed my blog for some time will no doubt remember that I used to sell the viscose ribbon. Kathleen loves using this gathered then embellishing with beads, French knots etc. She has opted for beads on this occasion.
Thanks so much Kathleen.
