Another block in my WOOL APPLIQUE series. As I mentioned in previous posts, this is Kathleen’s wool applique version of Bloomin Beauties pattern by Kim Schaefer. You can find this in Kim’s Flower Festival book.
Once again the background is a heavy black flannel and all the wool is hand dyed available through Wool Penny Rugs. Kathleen has used COLOUR COMPLEMENTS THREADS.
Kathleen chose a patterned dyed wool for the leaves. I personally am very fond of patterned dyed wool. She has embellished the centre of the leaves with back stitch and added a few straight stitches at an angle for the veins.
I love the blue background for the flower and the yellow petals and centre. The flower is bordered in a stem stitch. The petals looks to be a fly stitch. The very centre is bordered with drizzle stitches – BEAUTIFUL ! On this occasion she has added an antique button fastened in place using French Knots. Love her colour choices.
Simplicity! Thank you again Kathleen.
