Wool applique today. Bloomin Beauties Block #7. As I mentioned in previous posts, this is Kathleen’s wool applique version of Bloomin Beauties pattern by Kim Schaefer. You can find this in Kim’s Flower Festival book.
Once again the background is a heavy black flannel and all the wool is hand dyed available through Wool Penny Rugs.
Kathleen has used Colour Complements threads.
Kathleen has chosen mostly solid wools for this block. The leaves are bordered with chain stitch in a size 5 perle cotton and the centers are fly stitch using floss. The flower petals are bordered with stem stitch in a size 5 perle cotton with stem stitch repeated in the center of each petal. The center of the flower are pistil stitches bordered with loopy bullion stitches. I think the yellow center is the perfect accent with the pink.
You will find all the posts for this project in the right sidebar – categories – wool applique.
I hope that Kathleen is providing you with some ideas for your own Bloomin Beauties. Thank you Kathleen 🙂
