KREINIK 1/16″ RIBBON is back in stock. I introduced this product last year with a very good response SO I have dyed up some new colours. Yes, NEW colours so if you purchased them previously these are new ones! Nine of the ten colours are shown above. You can find all the colours HERE.
I know some of you may not be familiar with Kreinik 1/16″ Ribbon so it is a flat polyester metallic which has a beautiful frosted appearance. It is easy to lay flat using a laying tool, your needle or finger. Ideal for needlepoint (14-24 count canvas), counted canvas, cross stitch (10 & 11 count) and plastic canvas. It can be couched for various surface embellishment techniques in wool applique and crazy quilting. Stunning results can be achieved in ribbon embroidery, weaving, tatting and even stumpwork. As you can tell, it is quite versatile.
I do recommend that you use shorter lengths of approximately 45 cm (18 inches) or less for good control and to avoid excessive abrasion of the thread from repeated passes through the ground fabric or canvas. Use a needle with a large eye (chenille) to allow the ribbon to pass through the fabric/canvas with ease. Stitch slowly and let your needle hang frequently to avoid the ribbon twisting on itself.
I have also dyed up a new selection of the Kreinik #16 braid offered in a sampler pack of 6 x 5 meter (5.47 yard) skeins. These are wonderful for wool applique enthusiasts and work well in larger mesh needlepoint. You can find them HERE. I will be back with more on Friday 🙂
