I am excited to share a lovely example of EMBROIDERY today from another talented customer. Amy is a textile/embroidery artist. Initially when I saw this piece I had thought she had crocheted on a doily but this was not true. The piece measures about 3 to 3 ½” in diameter and the frame is crocheted around an old bangle bracelet. The stitching is basically satin stitch, soft shading and colonial knots using some of my hand dyed embroidery threads and a pattern she drew.
Amy writes that she has always loved fiber arts and was taught to crochet by her grandmother as a child. When she was in her early thirties she decided to set a goal to learn a new fiber arts technique every year. Looks as if she is well on her way!
This weekend is our May long weekend here in British Columbia so I will be taking a bit of a break returning to blogging on Wednesday. It is our “unofficial” start to summer and this year it cannot come soon enough. We have had a dismal wet winter so I am looking forward to some warmer weather. Have a great weekend whatever you do – back on Wednesday!
