LOVE the purple flower! Kathleen has chosen to border it with a Palestrina stitch. I find I do not use this stitch enough and really must start to do so as it is beautiful. She has added beads and her colour choice is fantastic as they really pop and in my opinion make the flower. The center darker wool of the flower is further bordered with very small bullion stitches – can you believe they are so even!!! The very center I believe is a button.
The leaves are bordered with a chain stitch. The center pattern is bordered with back stitch. The stem is embellished with what I believe is buttonhole but not sure about this.
I admire that Kathleen has opted for all solid wool colours in this block keeping it simple but effective with the use of almost all variegated threads. Are you inspired yet?
