This is a very small section of my CRAZY QUILTING project, my medium dusty to be specific. I picked up the flower buttons at the bottom of the photograph when I was in France several years ago and I have been waiting to use these somewhere – I think they fit in quite well. I traced out a loose diamond shape then stitched two rows of small chain stitch using a size 8 perle cotton in two different colours. I added beads in the center to add a bit of bling.
I used Sharon Boggon’s templates, available on her website to trace the teardrop shapes. I stitched these using silk perle and added straight stitches to the center with a machine metallic thread – you could also use Kreinik #8 braid instead.
I started the seam treatment on the upper left by laying a piece of ribbon over the seam, embellished with mother of pearl flower buttons. I added straight stitches repeating a diamond shape from the first seam treatment, again using size 8 perle cotton. That’s it for today but more later this week 🙂
